Approaching Governments: A Step Towards National Recognition of Acupressure

Dear Friends,

We sincerely thank you for your valuable participation in the 20th Conference of 2018. Your contributions were instrumental in the fruitful discussions regarding the promotion of acupressure therapy, literature, instruments, various levels of training, and the development of courses across the country. The involvement of our zonal heads was particularly encouraging, as they expressed a strong commitment to advancing these initiatives under the umbrella of Acupressure Shodh, Prashikshan Evam Upchar Sansthan, Allahabad (ASPEUS).

Meeting with AYUSH & HRD Ministries

We are pleased to inform you that a crucial meeting was held between ASPEUS officials and the AYUSH & HRD Ministers, Government of India. The key points discussed were as follows:

  1. Recognition of ASPEUS as an Institution of Excellence by the Government of India.
  2. Engaging professionally trained acupressure practitioners (with over five years of experience) under the AYUSH ministry, allowing the benefits of acupressure to reach a larger population. As an initial step, permission for one year was requested under AYUSH to establish acupressure as a recognized system of treatment.

The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), and the ASPEUS team presented on the aforementioned agendas.

Presentation Highlights

  1. Acupressure Recognition: The Director of ASPEUS highlighted the need for acupressure to be recognized by the AYUSH ministry as an independent therapy, noting that the Sansthan has been successfully working in this field for the past 24 years, with the therapy’s roots tracing back over 3,000 years.
  2. Cosmic Connection: The presentation referenced the connections between cosmic elements and the human body, aligning acupressure’s principles with ancient Ayurvedic texts.
  3. Prominent Cases: The Sansthan’s success in treating various medical conditions, such as arthritis, cerebral palsy, paralysis, spinal disorders, and heart diseases, was emphasized, with notable praise from Dr. Prakash Khetan (a neurologist listed in the Guinness World Records).
  4. Regulatory Suggestions: It was suggested that the Government consider implementing regulations to prevent any misuse of acupressure practices.

Positive Response from Government Officials

The ASPEUS team submitted literature and representations to the concerned authorities. Both Hon’ble Ministers and government officials responded positively, discussing the prospects of introducing acupressure across the country.

Now, it is our collective duty to prepare ourselves for this nationwide task. All therapists are requested to:

  • Stay updated with the latest research and advancements made by ASPEUS.
  • Participate in specialized capsule courses, residential trainings, and correspondence programs.
  • Initiate acupressure treatment in your respective cities, towns, and rural areas.

  • 24th National Conference & Super Advanced Training: Conducted from 23rd to 27th November 2022.
  • 25th National Conference & 1st International Super Advanced Training: Organized from 23rd to 27th November 2023.

These conferences played a significant role in advancing the cause of acupressure therapy by engaging national and international participants in specialized training and discussions on the latest research and treatment techniques.
