Bhagatji Passes Away

13 Jun 2000 was a sad day for the Sansthan as on this day, one of its most dedicated workers Shri Mahesh Sarswat (Bhagatji) left for his heavenly abode. Bhagatji rendered great service to humanity by setting the solar plexus of over one hundred fifty thousand persons during his lifetime. The Sansthan shall forever remember this noble human being. May his soul rest in peace!

 

Basic Acupressure Training Camp, Allahabad: 2-5 Jul 2000

The Sansthan organized a basic acupressure training camp at Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon Mandapam hall, Allahabad from 2 to 5 Jul 2000. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. D.N. Tiwari, member planning commission and chairman health task force, government of India. Justice Prem Shankar Gupt, Justice Girdhar Malviya, income tax commissioner Shri B.S. Johri and Kumbh Mela commissioner Shri R.P. Singh were guests of honour during the opening ceremony.

A record number of 732 trainees attended the camp, which included government officers, judicial officers, teachers, medical practioners and members of the general public. A team of eight lecturers from the Sansthan provided the training. Practical training was provided by a 52-member team of practical trainers led by Ms. Parul Agarwal and Shri Alok Kamalia.

Justice K.K. Agarwal, Commissioner Allahabad Division Shri Sadakant, IAS and vice chairman Allahabad Development Authority Shri Chanchal Kumar Tiwari, IAS were the guests of honour at the closing ceremony.

‘Sujok Acupressure’, a low cost basic book on the subject in Hindi language written by Sansthan’s senior vice president Shri J. P. Agarwal and co authored by Shri K. C. Goel and Ms. Gita Garg was released on the occasion by Justice Girdhar Malviya.
 

 First Issue of Sarswati, Sansthan’s Professional Journal Published

2 Jul 2000 was an important land mark for the Sansthan as on this day the first issue of Sarswati, the Sansthan’s quarterly acupressure professional journal and India’s first was released by Justice Prem Shankar Gupt during the opening ceremony of the above training. Sarswati was meant to provide a forum to acupressure professionals through out the country to exchange views and share experiences through the medium of the journal. It was decided to have three issues of the journal during a year covering the period Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun and Jul-Dec (combined issue covering two quarters).
 

Establishment of Indian Academy of Acupressure, Allahabad: 15 Aug 2000

15 Aug 2000 was another important land mark for the Sansthan as on this day Indian Academy of Acupressure established by the Sansthan came into being. Justice Prem Shankar Gupt, the Sansthan’s patron inaugurated the academy. Justice O.P. Garg presided over the inaugural function.

The academy was established with a view to provide long term advanced acupressure courses of six months duration and above. 120 students were enrolled for the first advance course of the academy. The following became the first office bearers of the academy:

  • Shri J.P. Agarwal - honorary course director.
  • Dr. G. C. Agarwal head of the department of physiology, Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Allahabad – honorary principal.
  • Dr. J.S. Mathur, retired principal Kanpur Medical College – honorary technical director.
  • Dr. S. K. Rathi, CMO CGHS & Dr. Asha Agarwal, paediatrist – honorary advisers.
  • Shri Shyam Sunder Saraf – deputy director
  • Shri Surya Prakash Kesarwani – administrator. 

Sansthan’s Lecturers Attend M Particle Training and Seminar

Two senior lecturers of the Sansthan, Shri M.B. Tripathi and Ms. Parul Agarwal attended a training programme on neutro concept and M Particle held from 14 to 18 Aug 2000 at Jaipur and which was conducted by Prof Park Jae Woo, president of International Sujok Academy, Moscow and International M Particle Association, Korea. The duo subsequently attended the second level of M Particle training conducted by Prof Park at Delhi from 6 Sep to 10 Sep 2000. Prof Park appointed both of them as M Particle lecturers. Both in turn conducted training on the subject for the benefit of members of the Sansthan on their return.


Establishment of Treatment Center at Lukarganj, Allahabad: 23 Aug 2000

Sant Shri Santoshanand Acupressure Center, an affiliate center of the Sansthan, was inaugurated at Lukarganj, Allahabad by the Sansthan’s president, Shri Mata Prasad Khemka on 23 Aug 2000. The center was established courtesy Shri Jaipal Das and his family. Shri Das became the chief coordinator of the center and Shri Dilip Goel the chief therapist. Sansthan’s senior vice president, Shri J. P. Agarwal also decided to provide his services at this center.

 
Second National Acupressure Conference cum Super Advance Training at Allahabad: 16-21 Dec 2000

Encouraged by the excellent response to first national acupressure conference cum super advance training held during Dec 99, it was subsequently decided to organize this national acupressure conference cum super advance training at Allahabad on an annual recurring basis. The conference was meant to provide a forum to learned acupressure therapists across the country to meet in person and exchange ideas on the subject. It was also meant to provide a platform to acupressure experts to present their research papers. The training part was meant to impart the trainees with a highly advanced knowledge of the subject.

Accordingly, the second national acupressure conference cum super advance training was organized at Allahabad at Rajshri Purushottam Das Tandon Mandapam hall, Allahabad from 16 to 21 Dec 2000. A record number of 723 delegates from various parts of the country attended. The event was a grand success.

Dr. Narendra Singh Gaur, health education minister, UP government was the chief guest at the opening function and Dr. K. P. Srivastava, mayor of Allahabad the guest of honour. Other distinguished guests at the occasion were the famed philanthropic saint from London Sant Shri Maruti Ram Baba, Dr. Suman Moti Lal Shah, Dr. Manik Chand Lakhotia, Dr. Gokul Chandra Chandak, all from Kolkota, Dr. Lal Chand Bagaria from Ranchi and Dr. Krishna Kumar Daga from Raipur. Income tax commissioner of Allahabad division Shri P.P.Johri presided over the opening function. The event was inaugurated by Maruti Ram Baba with the traditional lighting of the lamp.

Grant of Affiliation to Out Station Centers

The following five out station acupressure treatment centers were granted affiliation by the Sansthan during the course of the second national acupressure conference organized at Allahabad in Dec 2000.

  • Salt Lake Sanskritik Sansad, Kolkata. This institution is also engaged in providing free allopathic and homeopathic treatment. Shri Kashi Prasad Kedia became the chief coordinator of the center and Ms. Neelam Boobna its chief therapist.
  • Manav Seva Sangh Acupressure Upchar Kendra, Kolkata. Chief coordinator Shri Gokul Chand Chandak.
  • Shyam Datavya Aushadhalaya, Kolkata. Chief coordinator Shri Lalit Ganeriwal. Chief therapist Shri Ashok Jain. This center was subsequently formally inaugurated by the Sansthan’s senior vice president Shri J.P. Agarwal in Jan 01.
  • Acupressure Chikitsa Kendra, Ranchi. Chief coordinator Shri Lal Chand Bagaria.
  • Sanwedna Parishad Acupressure Upchar Kendra, Jabalpur. Chief coordinator Dr. Kusum Solanki.
     

Establishment of Treatment Centers During the Year

During the year, two additional acupressure treatment centers were established at Lucknow as follows:

  • Upkaram Karoti Acupressure Center, Motinagar. Shri Viswambhar Dixit was its coordinator.
  • Baba Daulat Giri Mandir Acupressure Center, Dugawan. Shri Krishna Autar Gupt was its coordinator.

By the end of 2000, 23 treatment centers were functional, 13 at Allahabad, four at Lucknow, three at Kolkota and one each at Ranchi, Jabalpur and Sultanpur.


In House Training

Classes to train practical trainers of the Sansthan were started at Marwari Dharmshala, Allahabad on every Sunday afternoon. The Wednesday evening classes for therapists that were being conducted at the Sansthan’s head office at the Marwari Dharmshala, Allahabad were shifted to the premises of the affiliate center at State Bank of India, main branch, Allahabad. In addition, senior lecturers and therapists of the Sansthan got together at the residence of Sansthan’s senior vice president Shri J.P. Agarwal on every Thursday early morning to exchange views on professional subjects. The aim of all these classes was to further hone the treatment and teaching skills of senior therapists as also to enable them to pass on these skills to their junior colleagues.
